Horst Prillinger studied English literature, Journalism/Communications, and Library and Information Science at Vienna University. He currently lives in Vienna, where he works as a librarian, teacher, webmaster, translator, writer and photographer.

One of his recent projects included the creation of an intranet for Vienna University Library, which is heavily based on the technology and philosophy of weblogs.

He used to run a number of weblogs, of which, due to lack of time, only The Aardvark Speaks (established in 2002) has survived.

He is the principal author and editor of the fiction weblog Messages from the Lost Continent, which will be published in book form later this year.

He firmly believes in the creative and social potential of weblogs and sees them as part of a democratic media revolution.

He is also an outspoken, frequently quoted and heavily linked-to critic of Wikipedia.
