My name is Raymond Elferink and I am director in a small software development company called RayCom BV. RayCom B.V. is a Dutch software, research and development company. Having been founded in 1997, RayCom has a growing reputation in the field of web-based applications for knowledge-sharing, knowledge development solutions and business intelligence solutions. RayCom has a particular expertise in database design and server side programming.
RayCom is the developer of MindNotes, an innovative knowledge-sharing tool, built in Open Source; Discuss, a discussion platform for knowledge-sharing over the Internet and structured online discussion for Communities of Practice, Eval.Act, a flexible online evaluation tool with built-in statistical analysis functionality.
In 2004 RayCom has developed a Self-Evaluation tool called SPEAK, for community development projects in Ireland. SPEAK is currently being used by approximately 250 projects. SPEAK is still being developed further and the number of users is expected to grow considerably over the next year.
In 2005 RayCom has developed an online dynamic profiling and profile matching tool for Boardmatch Ireland. This is the first Internet service aimed at matching professional volunteers with non-profit organisations in Europe. It’s users are high potential professionals in accountancy, ICT, law and management.
At the moment RayCom is leading the development of a new Open Source distributed file repository called OpenDocument.net which will be ready for its first beta release in October 2006. OpenDocument.net has built in support for Open Document Standards like IMS-LD and SCORM, and will support use of Creative Commons Licenses.
RayCom is experienced in the development of Internet and Intranet-applications and environments for SMEs in the Netherlands, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry. On an international level, RayCom has been working on innovative ideas in ICT development with a growing interest and confidence in using and developing Open Source Software. Over the past years, RayCom has been working closely together with Graham Attwell from Pontydysgu ltd.
RayCom is the coordinator of the e-Learning Programme BAZAAR project and a partner the Leonardo Programme OpenDOCK project.
