Abstract
Blogs are treated many times as just textual objects and interactions between bloggers are conceived as just a textual exchange. This article proposes that when analyzing interactions between blogs and bloggers it is necessary to include the work done by infrastructure. Infrastructure is understood as the material systems that take part in the blogging practices (blog platform, hardware, and related systems and services such as Flickr, Technorati, CoComment, etc.). Infrastructure makes blogs highly structured objects, and it is this property what makes possible for bloggers to reference through hyperlinks every piece of a blogger’s work. Infrastructure generates hyperlinks and allows bloggers to elaborated hyperlinks. This tight relationship leads to conceived hyperlinks are part of infrastructure. Blogging therefore, cannot be understood as just a textual practice but a way for extending the blog infrastructure. Data for the article have been collected during a six month period of ethnographic fieldwork among blog and bloggers.
